lingerd / haproxy

Hello,

I have been reading up on Lingerd. As the website states, Lingerd is a daemon (service) designed to take over the job of properly closing network connections from an http server like Apache. Having a big, fat Apache feed data to a client on a slow connection is not efficient. Another program, like Lingerd, can do this.

I was then wondering how haproxy and Lingerd interact. Is a daemon like Lingerd still necessary if I use haproxy, or could I configure haproxy in a way that it provides the client with the data, ensuring the connection to the Apache is already closed faster?

Thanks

Jan
