v1.2 vs. v1.3

I am going to be compiling and running haproxy on AMD-64 x86 servers running OpenSolaris. I noticed that there hasn't been active development on the 1.2 branch in over a year. (2007/03/17 v1.2.17)

Since all development seems to be going into the 1.3 branch I would prefer to use it. Is it stable enough for production use at this time? If so, are there any other considerations that might make me rather run v1.2.17?
