The bug in that version could have caused the problem, except that you said that you got headers and nothing else. The previous bug could not even cause headers to be returned, because the connection would have remained unserved.
So if you think that upgrading solved the problem and that the application might have a bug too, I would suggest you try to reproduce with the buggy version in order to unveil your application's bug too!
