ulimit-n, or maxconn value auto-determination?

Question to the list:

1. how is the default ulimit-n value calculated? according to configuration.txt, it seems like this is based on maxconn, but then the question arises... (see next question)
2. what is the default value of maxconn? looking through the documentation, there doesnt seem to be a default value for maxconn, so obviously, there has to be some kind of a computation involved here. In which case, how is this computed?
