I found something interesting with the latests bnx2 drivers, RX buffers can be way bigger.

Driver 1.6.9:

    Ring parameters for eth0:
    Pre-set maximums:

    RX: 1020
    RX Mini: 0
    RX Jumbo: 0
    TX: 255

Driver 1.7.4:

    Pre-set maximums:

    RX: 1020
    RX Mini: 0
    RX Jumbo: 4080
    TX: 255

Driver 1.8.1c

    Pre-set maximums:

    RX: 4080
    RX Mini: 0
    RX Jumbo: 16320
    TX: 255

I have tried up-ing those buffers, i will see what that gave Received on 2008/12/23 10:17
