I have successfully built haproxy on AIX and it runs fine there (built with gcc). I haven't noticed any specific issue, but you should keep in mind that it's probably as uncommon as on some other OS such as windows, and that in case of trouble, you'll get very little assistance beyond what is purely haproxy-specific. For instance, if your regex lib works differently, it won't be easy for people to help you fix some rewrite rules. And if you experience performance limitations, not many people know how to tune AIX here.
